Paul James Hideo Matsumoto, M.D., 85, of Hilo died Dec. 27 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired surgeon, a U.S. Navy lieutenant and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph Aloha Choir. Rosary 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 9) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Wake service at 7 p.m. Rosary again 8:30 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 10) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Eulogy at 10 a.m. Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. No carnations, please, and no koden (monetary gifts). Edna Jane Perreira, 84, of Hilo died Dec. 27 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Haina, Honokaa, she was a homemaker and member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, Kilauea Ward, and Pomaikai Senior Center ukulele group. Visitation 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 10) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the mortuary; Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire. Anthony “Tony” Timothy Shannon, 80 of Kailua, Oahu, died Dec. 24 at North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea. Born in Anahola, Kauai, he was a legal process server and U.S. Navy veteran. Edith Mae Worsencroft, 89, of Honomu died Dec. 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pittsburgh, she was a teacher’s aide and receptionist at E.B. da Silva Elementary School and other Hilo area schools, environmentalist and member of Sierra Club of Hawaii, Moku Loa Group. Celebration of life 10 a.m. Monday (Jan. 8) at Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles, 1407 Kapiolani St. in Hilo. Lunch to follow. No flowers. Memorial donations to Sierra Club of Hawaii.
